Sofie Verclyte

Researcher, Design & legal anthropology

biography

Sofie Verclyte is a researcher at the School of Arts and the Human Rights Centre. After finishing her Design studies at the School of Arts, she obtained a master’s degree in Conflict and Development Studies at Ghent University. Prior to her current position, she worked with refugee minors in the Orientation and Observation Centre of Fedasil in Steenokkerzeel.

 

Her current project, ‘On Migrating Heritage’, combines insights from design anthropology and legal anthropology to explore how the Syrian conflict and following displacement altered the skilled practices of refugee artisans.
